Hydrant Flushing

The Grand Ledge Department of Public Service will be conducting water main flushing between Monday, September 30, 2019, through approximately Friday, October 11, 2019. Please note that this is a tentative schedule, weather permitting. Water main flushing is necessary to test hydrants for proper pressure and flow. This also allows the City to remove any sediment from the water lines which helps improve quality and clarity. As a result, water main flushing can cause temporary changes in water pressure or discoloration.

Residents are encouraged to postpone doing laundry between 7:30 am – 3:30 pm during this period. If you experience any discoloration, please wait approximately 30 minutes for Public Service to move out of the area, then run cold water in a sink or bathtub until clear. If you have any questions, please call the Department of Public Service at 517-627-2149. Thank you for your patience as we complete this necessary process to ensure water quality and clarity in the City of Grand Ledge.
